MANCHESTER UNITED AND PORTUGAL WINGER CHRISTIANO RONALDO
Christiano Ronaldo - PFA Player of the Year

Ronaldo earned the nod from his peers for the PFA player of the year to scoop the awards in both the main and 'Young Player' categories, something which had not been achieved since Andy Gray did the double in 1977.

In season 2006/07 the Portuguese went from 'winker' to winner in English football following his role in the controversial sending-off of Wayne Rooney in the 2006 World Cup.

In April 2007 Ronaldo signed a club record £31 million deal with Manchester United to tieing him to the club for a further 5 years and ending speculation of a move away to Real Madrid.
